We should desire the Word of God just as a newborn babe desires to be fed and nourished with milk.  We can not properly mature without bathing our mind and soul in the Scriptures.  “Thy Word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”  This extra reminder is from Psalm 119:11.  As far as 1 Peter goes, who is the Chief Cornerstone?
