The remedy was simple.  Israel had sinned, and the penalty for this was death.  So, Moses was to make a serpent of brass, the symbol of sin and judgment at that moment, and lift it up.  All who looked on the serpent lived.  Those who refused to look died.  This was not a form of idolatry.  We’ll even discuss this distinction later.  This was simply a very vivid picture of something else that was to come.  What was being pictured here?
