Matthew, writing to Jews, presents Jesus as the King of the Jews, and thus starts the lineage with Abraham.  Luke, on the other hand, presents Jesus as the Son of Man, a human, and thus goes all the way back to Adam.  Mark has no genealogy because he is presenting Jesus to the Romans as a servant, and no servant needs a background.  John presents Jesus to the whole world as the Son of God.  Christ is all four of these.  Oh, and since I mentioned the genealogy, why does Luke assign Mary’s family tree to Joseph?

-She probably had no brothers and followed Numbers 36-

-She was probably the oldest-

-There is no good reason-

-We might have it backwards, and Matthew is Mary’s family tree-
