The older brother stays outside in the field working, and when his dad comes to get him, the dude complains that the dad doesn’t appreciate him like he does the son that ran away.  The dad explains his joy in the wayward boy returning home, but the story ends without saying if the older dude got his head on straight.  Now, moving on, I want you to know that Luke was writing to the Greek mindset.  With that being said, how does Luke present Jesus in His book?
