Oh, it’s very true!  You see, this period in Israel’s history was after Joshua had just led them in victory after victory, and taught them to follow the Lord, but then he died and the generation with him died.  It was their children and grandchildren that departed from God and did things their own way.  We point at them and say “That’s so horrible!  That’s disgusting!”  But that’s where we can end up when we replace God’s perfect, sweet design for us with our own ideas.  Do you know what phrase God used to describe this book?

-“Every man for himself.”-

-“Every man did that which was right in his own eyes.”-

-“There is none righteous; no, not one.”-

-“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”-
