Yes, the promise was basically that Israel’s descendants would eventually have a kingdom, and Judah’s kids would be the royal tribe.  From this would come the Messiah who would reign forever.

The first two choices from the last question were actually the words said to Abraham, and while this is basically the same promise passed down to Judah, the wording Jacob used to narrow it down were different, as you caught on.  In spite of Judah’s promised future of royal descendants, all he and his family saw was the land of Egypt for the rest of their lives.  Still, they lived quite comfortably, with Pharaoh, himself, giving them the best land in all of Egypt.  What was this place called again?
