If you do these things, you will not be unfruitful in the knowledge of the Lord, and you will never fall.  Thus, both were correct.  Of course, the Scripture is not teaching that you will never sin.  Romans 7 shows that even Christians still give into their sinful desires on occasion, thus necessitating the need for 1 John 1:9’s promise of forgiveness.  However, there is a big difference between giving into sin and falling completely on your face in disaster, utterly forsaking your faith out of discouragement.

(Lori: I shall ask the next question, if you don’t mind.  What happens if you don’t keep these things?)

-You will lose your salvation-

-You will burn your breakfast-

-You will burn your dinner-

-You will be spiritually blind and doubt your salvation-
